Dr. Demento was the only reason I turned on my radio 15 years ago. And I am so much better because of it.

Now that I live on the other side of this planet it is very hard to catch a Dr. Demento show, but you can believe I am trying.

It's Monday here, but I happen to be sick. I've never been happier to be sick because finally I will have a chance to catch Dr. Demento when it stumbles online in America. I'm setting my alarm to it. I hope the online show is as good as the real show was back in the day.

When I was a kid my mother would poke her head into my room and remind me that my radio show was on. It was so much of a part of my life my mother even knew to remind me in the rare case that I forgot. Don't misunderstand-The reason I would forget is because I was busy making my future as a video-game programmer.

Now I travel the world making video games, including Final Fantasy games, and in order to do that I had to leave America very long ago (SquareEnix has an office in America, but not to make games, just to market them).

I want to think that I have my own mind--that I am so free because I was born that way--but the fact is I am not sure that is true. Dr. Demento had a huge impact on my life. Listening to Dr. Demento means you are not afraid of what others think. The music is unorthodox, and you don't care. You are better than that.

Barret, I want to thank you on a personal level. I am so glad you are still at it 15 years after I last heard your show. I really hope I catch "tonight's" show (in your time) and if I can you can believe it will take me back so far words can't explain it. Your grandchildren must be extremely proud.

Just an FYI, since it's on the web now, you don't have to tune in at any particular time, you can stream it whenever you want. Nice to read your story! Hope you were able to reconnect this weekend.
