Help finding song (alludes to brother/sister incest)
(too old to reply)

I don't know if this ever appeared on Dr. D, but I remember seeing a
really funny song performed on TV (possibly about 10 years ago on a
stand up comedy show like "Evening at the Improv"). It was performed by
a good looking couple who were, or pretended to be, brother and sister.
I think the gist of the song was they were singing about their
brother/sister relationship and it was all sweet and innocent but then
they started making allusions to loving each other but "not that way"
because it would be wrong. I don't remember if it explicitly mentioned
"incest"--I suspect not.

I'd like to know who performed it, the name, with the ultimate goal of
being able to track down a recording of it.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Wild guess: there was once a bit on Saturday Night Live in which Brad Hall and
Julia Louis-Dreyfus played Donny and Marie, and at the end of the bit they
lip-locked....r

Thanks but I don't think that is it. I'm pretty sure what I'm thinking
of was a musical comedy/stand-up type of act (a la Stephen Lynch).

I also posted an inquiry on the Stephen Lynch message boards and was
pointed in the right direction. Here is what I posted back:

While I haven't found audio or video, I'm pretty sure I've identified
the performers: Emmy and Sam Laybourne. Thanks to the mentions of
Premium Blend I looked through the episodes (on www.tv.com) to find the
non-solo performers and found the Labournes. Googling Laybourne and
"incest" led me to this (from
http://coryoconnor.livejournal.com/222054.html):

--------------------------------------------------------------
Meet Emmy Laybourne, Daughter of Cable-TV Royalty

That Laybourne Girl Emmy Laybourne took the stage with her younger
brother, Sam. It was a benefit night at the Kitchen for the Center for
Discovery, a camp for people with severe disabilities, and the audience
wasn't the usual alternative comedy crowd, but men in suits and women in
cocktail dresses. A tape started playing a schmaltzy melody, and Ms.
Laybourne, dressed in a sleeveless red top and long black skirt, began
to sing lyrics she'd written: "We could walk on sandy beaches," Emmy
began innocently enough. "We could backpack through Europe," Sam responded.

Soon brother and sister were chiming in on a disturbing chorus: "But we
can't make love–because we are related! It's taboo for me and you!" They
danced lasciviously with each other, then backed off guiltily.

In the audience were the Laybournes' mother and father–Geraldine
Laybourne, the former head of Nickelodeon and now potentate of the new
women's cable and Internet channel, Oxygen, and Kit Laybourne, the
former head of the Colossal Pictures animation studio who is now
developing programming for Oxygen.

The little duet kept going: "I used to watch you sleeping when you were
a little child," sang Emmy. "And I thought to myself as I saw you, so
weak, so defenseless–man, it would be wild!" To which Sam replied: "I
used to watch you bathing when you went through puberty. And I thought
to myself as I saw you emerge from the water–why can't she be with me?"

At the end of the number, the Laybourne parents applauded loudly for
Emmy's paean to incest. What parent wouldn't be proud?

Now, if I could only find the audio or video...

Thanks for everyone's help!

Now, I don't know if any readers of this group might be able to find
this--so far I've not been successful in finding a video. I think they
originally appeared on episode 205 (season 2 #5) of Premium Blend which
aired on November 29, 1997 (on Comedy Central). I think they also may
have been included in episode 101 of Comic Remix which aired July 8, 2002.

If you have any ideas of how to track this bit down, I'd appreciate
hearing them. Otherwise, at least we know who I was thinking of.

Did you ever manage to find it? I would be interested in getting a copy if so.
