What do I do with a 60yr old unopened "Songs of the Pogo"

I have had this album unopened since I purchased it 10 years ago.
Shrink wrap condition suggests that it has never been opened in
all of it's 60 years. Did they use shrink wrap in 1956?

So my question is, do I open it and hear it for the first time, or
wait another 10-15 years? Me and the record are about the same
age. I am sure I am up to it. Use it to celebrate new year's
day?

Freddy,
going round-and-round.

Wow, that's pretty wild! I'm not really sure if they used shrink wrap in 1956. I thought it wasn't until the mid-60s or so that they started shrink wrapping albums, but I wasn't around back then so I can't say definitively.

Which label is it on? I recently found a second copy myself (not sealed) and was surprised they were on two different labels. Both have the lyric booklet inside but it's laid out differently.

BTW this came out on CD a few years ago, so if you would like to keep it sealed but also hear the contents, you can get the CD. It has some bonus tracks too.

It was published by A.A,Records. AR-2 is their # for the album. The front
has a dominant pink background tone with flowers and musical notes floating
about. Pogo is standing in the center of a white patch where notes have
crowded together to cover the pink background. A bit of text on the cover
says that "Lyrics for all songs included".

There is the remanent of a very old retail tag over the shrink wrap, mostly
torn away. Also in that corner is a hole punched through the cardboard. I
believe the hole punches were used to indicate "pulls" from the retail
shelf.

I did not know about the CD release. Perhaps I will go with that instead.

Freddy,
knowing the real value of vinyl.

That's the same issue I found in the 90s. Just a couple of months ago I found one released by Simon & Schuster. It looks the same from the front unless you really look closely. I don't know for sure which is the original release or which is more rare.
