Wow, after last month's 6-song domination of the top ten by Al, he still has 5 songs in the countdown this month, 3 of which were on last month. The other 2 are new to the countdown, with #1 being new to the show.

This is the 8th time the #1 song has also been a debut for the show. For the first 30 years of syndication (1974-2004), this only happened 5 times total, the last of those being 10 years ago this month with "This Land Is Your Land". But it has happened once a year since 2012. We'll see if that trend continues.

Also, Al is represented in a 6th song on this month's countdown, since "Know Your Doctors" is a parody of "Your Horoscope For Today" using the original backing track from Al's version.

Wow. Weird Al has gone a long way since he started sending cassette tapes to the show. Which year did he send his first tape?

He was first played on the show in 1976 and that's when he started sending tapes in earnest, but he was also one of the musicians on a version of "Pico And Sepulveda" recorded for a contest in 1973, but that tape hasn't been seen since.

I wonder if Dr. Demento is still accepting songs from others or if he's taking to youtube to find new demented recordings.
